Petrified Wood Burger Bowl

The Petrified Wood Burger Bowl is a striking decorative and functional piece carved from genuine fossilized wood. Petrified wood is the result of a natural process in which a tree has completely transformed into stone through permineralization. During this process, all organic materials (such as wood) are gradually replaced by minerals—primarily silicates like quartz—while preserving the original structure of the tree’s tissue. The result is a three-dimensional fossil that retains the exact form of the ancient wood.

This transformation occurs underground, when fallen trees become buried under layers of sediment. The lack of oxygen slows decomposition, while mineral-rich water permeates the plant’s cellular structure. Over millions of years, as lignin and cellulose break down, minerals crystallize in their place, forming a stone replica of the original wood. Petrified wood is estimated to be between 6 and 20 million years old.

Because petrified wood is a natural and non-homogeneous material, each piece is unique and may feature natural cracks or small cavities. These are often filled with transparent or colored resin to stabilize the structure while preserving its organic character and beauty.
