Designed in The Jacksons’ Notting Hill studio then handmade by craftswomen in rural southern Bangladesh, they’re perfect for putting under plates, or to use as trivets in the centre of the table.
These placemats are crafted entirely from locally grown jute, a durable raw material which grows abundantly in Bangladesh. Known locally as the ‘golden fibre,’ jute has a low environmental impact, absorbing carbon dioxide and improving air quality.
The women who create The Jacksons placemats are paid directly for the work that they do. Each piece supports fair wages and contributes to initiatives that promote the financial independence of women across 60 villages in southwest Bangladesh.
